We’ve had a crazy year but feel happy we managed to keep Poets Corner running for our poetry-mad community. Despite the global pandemic, an extended lockdown, and Spring shortages of eggs, dried pasta, and hand sanitizer, we had no shortage of poets! This year we brushed up our Zoom skills and hosted a brilliant line-up: Francis Doyle, Francine Cunningham, Joanne Lilley, Kevin Spenst, Joseph Dandurand, Sonnet L’Abbé, Yvonne Blomer, Jenna Butler, Tanis MacDonald, Sarah de Leeuw, M.C. Warrior, Tom Wayman, Fiona Tinwei Lam, Maureen Hynes, Allan Briesmaster, Kate Flaherty, Michael Prior, and BC Poets reading their work for a special COVID-19 anthology fundraiser launch, We Are One.

We also pioneered our One Minute Poem feature, and posted a grand total of 34 poets, one every Friday, on all of our social media channels and our newly minted YouTube channel. These are all poems read by the poets themselves, from recently published collections and chapbooks, and are the beginnings of an important archive of Canadian poetry.

So we’re taking a much-needed break over December. Gonna hang out with the chickens.

See you in the New Year!    (#YouCan’tQuarantinePoetry)
