Laurie Fischer is a published poet and avid cyclist. He, his wife of 42 years, Cathie and their dogs, Rhett and Willy Wonka split their year between Winnipeg Manitoba and Clearwater, Florida. They have three daughters, Christie, Rachel and Pamela, as well as three grandchildren, Fredrich, Nina and Levi. With a lifelong love of theatre Laurie and Cathie founded North Kildonan Community Players in 1997 and have produced 25 Musical Productions. Since being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018, Laurie has taken control of his life with a whole new energy continuing his passions for theatre, writing, fundraising and cycling! Laurie’s first book, Poetry of the Pandemic was published in 2020 and his second Musings on a Life Well Lived will be available in November 2021 (both books  published by Friesen Press). He lives his life with a simple philosophy, “It is what it is! One step at a time! One day at a time!”

Leah Horlick grew up as a settler on Treaty Six Cree Territory & the homelands of the Métis in Saskatoon. Her first collection, Riot Lung (Thistledown Press, 2012), was shortlisted for a ReLit Award and a Saskatchewan Book Award. Her second collection, For Your Own Good (Caitlin Press, 2015), was named a Stonewall Honor Title by the American Library Association. She is a past winner of Canada’s Dayne Ogilvie Prize, ARC Poetry Magazine’s “Poem of the Year”, and was shortlisted for the 44th Pushcart Prize.
