POETS CORNER OPEN MIC PROTOCOL (for Virtual Readings)
We love our open mic’ers, and to make sure that the sign-up process is open and transparent to all, we have developed a new protocol for all to follow.
If you would like to participate in the open mic at our monthly reading, please send your request to:

- We will accept open mic requests beginning on the first of the month for that month’s reading, i.e. if you wish to be on the open mic list for the July reading, you can send in your request from the 1st July onwards.
- In the subject field, please write OPEN MIC JULY (or whichever month you are signing up for).
- In the body of the email, please write your full name + whether you have read for us before:
e.g. “Pat Lowther: First Time Reader” or “Langston Hughes: Return Reader” - You will receive acknowledgement of your request within 48 hours. (please be patient :))
- e.g. “Thanks for signing up; you are on our tentative list for open mic readers for July. We will confirm this the day before the reading and indicate your place on the list.
- e.g. “Thanks for signing up; you are on our tentative list for open mic readers for July. We will confirm this the day before the reading and indicate your place on the list.
- The list of open mic readers will be generated by date and time stamp, in order of receipt.
- We will reserve 3 spots each month for new readers (that is, people who have never read before at Poets Corner). If any of these 3 spots have not been filled by new readers by the day before the reading, they will go to returning readers.
- If we receive more than 10 readers, we will create a wait-list, again generated by date and time stamp.
- The final open mic list, and the wait-list, will be emailed to everyone on both lists the day before the reading.
